Dali, Yunnan

This body of work focuses on Benzhu belief in Bai communities in Dali, Yunnan, and on Lianchi Hui, a women’s devotional association connected to local ritual life. Through the practices of middle-aged and elderly Bai women, the project examines how everyday belief, ritual labour, and community relations carry local histories outside dominant written archives.

The work attends to the repeated gestures through which belief is sustained: preparing offerings, organising gatherings, singing, remembering, visiting, and maintaining relations within the village. Through fieldwork-based photography, moving image, sound recording, writing, and publishing, these materials are gathered and reorganised into a practice-based archive, where fragments of oral memory, women’s labour, ritual traces, and everyday belief become visible as situated forms of knowledge.


2023 - 2025, 云南大理

该部分围绕云南大理白族地区的本主文化及其相关民间组织“莲池会”展开。项目以地方信仰、民间组织、仪式实践与日常生活为研究对象，关注地方信仰体系、历史叙事、社区关系与中老年白族女性实践之间交织生成的复杂结构。
通过持续的田野工作、摄影、影像、声音记录、田野书写与出版实践，项目试图建构关于白族本主文化-莲池会民间知识的艺术性档案。在该语境下，仪式不会被视为孤立的文化事件。项目更关注支撑仪式与家庭生活的关系维系、筹备、维护与事件组织等方式发生的场域。

01. 工作方法与视角
通过反复进入同一地域与相关社区，记录并理解分散于不同时间节点中的仪式事件、日常场景与地方关系。项目不仅关注节庆中的仪式时刻，更关注莲池会妇女所在村落中的本主庙日常环境，以及莲池会成员参与的婚嫁、丧葬等日常仪式。通过这些不断累积的观看、参与与记录，项目试图捕捉地方社会中交错存在的“神圣时间”与“生活时间”，并进一步理解莲池会及白族本主文化在当代地方生活中的延续方式。

前期工作中，在分散的时间节点中记录仪式、空间、人物行动与日常关系，捕捉地方社会中并置存在的“神圣时间”与“生活时间”。项目结合摄影、民族志影像、声音记录与田野书写等方式，持续收集分散事件中的视觉、声音与文本材料。
