Leave It at the Door, Thank You
2025–ongoing
The project begins with two phrases from a food-delivery platform: “Leave it at the door, thank you” and “Order completed. Messaging is no longer available.” Together, they reveal how the platform connects strangers while defining the duration and limits of their contact. Using the plain, complete syntax of primary-school diaries, the work records what was eaten and who prepared, packed, and delivered it. Names, actions, times, and expressions of thanks are written out in full.
The texts are written in correction fluid on Chinese character practice sheets. A material used to erase becomes a means of recording labor reduced by the platform to service roles and order statuses. As the pages accumulate, private meals form an archive of platform labor, urban cooperation, and everyday dependence.
2025–ongoing
